As a personal followup, I couldn’t resist having my eyes and ears on hand for Brad Terry’s 78th birthday show in Brunswick Tuesday night. The night of really fine jazz also marked his final gig with 20-something guitar phenom Peter Herman, who left the next day to seek his fortune on the west coast.

After the show, Brad enjoyed cake and signed copies of his new autobiography: I Feel More Like I Do Now Than I Did Yesterday.

BDN staffer Darren Fishell and I did a piece a week ago about Brad’s next act. He was contemplating giving up music while still in top form. But as I was leaving, I heard Brad say to a man, “Yeah, that sounds good, let’s get together and rehearse.”

That was the best thing I heard all night.

Above is a taste of a Brad and Peter show from January.
