It’s all over, but the pictures remain

It’s over. It’s finally over. It feels like I’ve been shooting nothing but podium people since August. Of course, that’s not quite true. But that’s what it feels like.

To Paul LePage: Congratulations. I’ll see you in Augusta, soon.

To Mike Michaud: Thanks for giving it your best. I know you’ll land on your feet.

To Eliot Cutler: It would have been a lot less interesting without you. Thanks.

I’ve never covered a governor’s race for as closely as I’ve covered this one. Politics is a tough beat. I admire my colleagues Mario Moretto and Chris Cousins who do it for a living. I’m also proud of the BDN team coverage on election night — that includes the folks behind the scenes who never get a byline.

Though it’s been tedious and boring at times, now, at the end of it all, at 4 a.m., I can say (and I don’t think it’s just the sleep deprivation talking) it’s an honor to cover history in-the-making and to serve the people of Maine by keeping them informed.

But I sure am looking forward to getting back to other stories in Portland.

Here’s one last look at some of the governor’s race photos I’ve taken over the last year. I left the captions off. I think you know who they are by now.
