Portland’s first cruise ship of the season hit town today. I’ve seen lots of them over the years, but I’m always surprised at how large they are. They dwarf everything else on the waterfront. The Celebrity Glory — which, in my opinion, is a mighty odd name for a boat — is huge. It looks like someone floated in a seven story building. Let’s hope all the passengers who got off the boat had a good time and spent some dough, despite the glowering skies.

THIS JUST IN: Turns out the boat’s name is the Carnival Glory, which is written on the bow. Ooops. My bad.
It’s still a strange name.
